It was during a trip to France in 2012 that sparked the inception of Black Walnut and six months later the bakery debuted at the Minneapolis Farmers Market on Nicollet Mall. After a successful market season, the bakery shut and reformed as a weekend pop-up at One on One Bike Studio where customers lined up for bread and pastry.
Sarah Botcher is the baker/owner of Black Walnut Bakery.
A native of Minneapolis, Sarah has been cooking and baking for fifteen years in kitchens around the city. She attended the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley for Baking & Pastry and worked at Tartine Bakery & Cafe in San Francisco where she developed her skill in viennoiserie.
